Hello! I am a music teacher based in Austin, TX. I view teaching as a holistic practice and I place great emphasis on getting to know the individual student, their motivations, and their learning tendencies. Each lesson plan is based on the needs of the student and their own personal discovery. I am wholeheartedly invested in sharing my love of music and answering any curiosities one may have!
Much of my teaching inspiration comes master teacher/composer/author Allaudin Mathieu, who I have studied with extensively. I have learned volumes from him not just about music but the art of teaching itself.
In addition to two decades of performance and teaching history, I also have experience leading after-school classes for elementary students, teaching at music camps, playing music for pre-school kids, and coaching rock bands of all ages.
I earned a B.A. in Music with emphasis on Jazz performance from Sonoma State University in 2010.

“Plain and simple, Miles is one of the best teachers I’ve had the pleasure to work with. Miles has proved time and time again that the best teachers are the ones that are patient, motivating, and most of all able to listen. He is a wealth of ‘real world’ applications pertaining to your desired practice regiment.”
